OZARK CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL SESSION
April 3, 2017
5:30 p.m.
Mayor McNutt opened the council meeting at 5:43 p.m. Present: Mayor McNutt, Clerk Eveld,
Alderpersons Warden, Holman, Anderson, Hall and Waters. Flanary was absent.
Mayor McNutt invited Linda Millsap to explain what she was proposing. She said the Chamber
wishes to host hydroplane boat races on city lake. She said that Leonard miller is president of the
Oklahoma boat racing association and he needs a certain number of races and wishes to add Ozark.
She said she wants to do this on May 5 th , 6 th and 7 th . Mayor McNutt said the lake is ok but there are
departmental head concerns, concerns about the safety of the boaters and spectators, and the short
time to get this event together. Linda said she had planned to shuttle the people in. Roxie asked if
Linda has spoken with Chad and she had. Roxie wants to know who will go with this? We need
commitments. Street super Sampley said they are mowing and during that time already have
vacations scheduled. bleachers are being used for ballgames so cannot be moved. There is a lot
going on. On Linda’s handout, she listed porta potty needs, trash receptacles, busses for shuttles,
advertisement costs and $3,000 in cash for boaters. Susan said she didn’t feel this event is for us.
Roxie said we would have to waive lake rules for this one event. Ms. Summerville from the audience
is concerned about traffic on that short road. She lives above the dam there. She said there is no
place to watch from. Mayor McNutt said he is mainly concerned about safety and welfare of all.
Cecil said is designated a no wake lake. Jody said the street dept. could not contribute at this short
notice. Kevin said the fire department wasn’t available as the lake is out of city limits. Devin said he
would have to hire reserves to be there. Roxie said after much consideration, she felt this even was
not for Ozark. Susan Holman agreed.
A motion to adjourn was made by Anderson seconded by waters. On a roll vote, the following voted:
Aye: Warden, Holman, Hall, Anderson and Waters. No Nays.
