September 2018 Special Session Council Minutes
OZARK CITY COUNCIL Special Session
Sept 25, 2018
5:30 p.m.
Ozark city council met in special session on Sept 25, 2028 at 5:30 p.m. Roxie Hall, Susan Holman,
Patterson, Waters. Warden and Anderson were absent. Mayor McNutt requested the special session.
Bobby with Altes said that Altes Sanitation is losing money due to unforeseen increases in the landfill
fees. They want to propose an increase of 15%. Other area cities have agreed to an increase. Mayor
asked if they were taking only bags and asked about larger bulk items.
Bobby said their fees have gone from $42/ton to $78 a ton. The mayor is concerned about fall
cleanup and the large items that will be put out for pickup.
Mayor McNutt said the items will end up out in the county or the city pit. Altes said they are losing
$20K per month.
Altes said if they could get a 15% increase across the board it would help them over the hump. Roxie
expressed that she understood the unforeseen increases to Altes but felt the customer service was
lacking.
The mayor asked if we suspend half the fee for a period would that help. They didn’t feel that would
help in the long run. The mayor asked what they wanted to do, and they asked us to take the
transfer station back over. Mayor McNutt said he would not do that nor pass the costs on our
citizens under his watch. Altes wants the city to rebid the sanitation. Mayor McNutt told Altes we
would have to have something in writing from them since we are under contract with them releasing
the contract, so we can rebid, and our attorney would need to look that over. They said they would
get something to the city tomorrow.
Patterson motioned to rebid the Ozark sanitation service and get the bids by November 16 th ,
seconded by Waters. On a roll call vote the following voted: Aye: Holman, Patterson, Hall, & waters.
