MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE OZARK CITY COUNCIL
May 26, 2023
Ozark City Council Meeting Room
The Special Meeting of the Ozark City Council held Friday, May 2601, 2023 was called to order by Mayor Roxie Hall. Present were Mayor Hall and City Clerk Susan Stevens. Also present were Alderpersons David Mahon, Angela Harris, Randy Melton, and Argest Hyler. Also present were Water Superintendent Tonya Talkington, Vernon McDaniel, Robert Gresham, Chris Brockett, Bill Brockett, Royce Gattis, and Roy Day.
Mayor Hall has spoken with Jake Butler from Tractor Supply about building a “Jordan’ s Quik Stop” on the corner of Hillbilly Loop and 18th Street (Hwy 23), and about the lack of sewer connections on the property. The investor, Jackie McClure, currently has 90 of these businesses in Arkansas, with the latest being completed in Pottsville. A photo handout was provided to the Council. Mr. McClure has reached out to the City for financial help with the sewer project.
There was discussion regarding where and how to run the lines because of the extreme rockiness of the ground. There was also discussion regarding utility easements. Tonya Talkington provided a handout showing existing and proposed water lines and manholes. David Mahon stated that the business will be in the city limits of Ozark and it is the city’ s responsibility to provide services. Randy Melton pointed out that this also would encourage future development. Mayor Hall stated that today’s vote is only a yes or no as to whether the City will help financially with the sewer project. David Mahon made a motion for sewer lines to be installed on Hillbilly Loop and North 18th (Hwy 23) with the costs to be halved between the developer and the City of Ozark. Randy Melton seconded the motion. Upon a roll call vote, all Alderpersons voted aye and the motion passed. A motion was then made by Argest Hyler to adjourn and seconded by David Mahon. Upon a roll call vote, all Alderpersons voted aye and the meeting was adjourned.
Minutes for the Ozark City Council Special Meeting held Friday, May 26, 2023 were approved and passed this 12th day of June, 2023.
