MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE OZARK CITY COUNCIL
May 9, 2023
Ozark City Council Meeting Room
The Special Meeting of the Ozark City Council held Tuesday, May 9h was called to order by Mayor Roxie Hall. Present were Mayor Hall, City Clerk Susan Stevens, Admin. Asst. Jennifer Platt, Police Chief Devin Bramlett and Water Superintendent Tonya Talkington. Also present were Alderpersons Angela Harris, Argest Hyler, David Mahon, Loren Maier, Charlie Meeker, and Randy Melton.
The meeting was held for discussion and final decisions regarding ASI (Advanced Solutions, Inc.) as the new IT provider for the City of Ozark. Our contract with Dobson has ended. After an initial assessment by ASI, all of our infrastructure will need to be replaced and or updated before they can move forward. ASI provided a hand-out detailing these costs for each department. This will bring City Hall, the Police Department, the Water Department and the Community Center under one umbrella of coverage. David Mahon asked if it can also include the Street Department Building and yes it can. Ritter Fiberoptics has offered the best package for coverage including the Cloud back- up that is needed( especially for the Police Dept.) It will take them up to 60 days to run the fiberoptic from I-40 to us which will give us time to get our systems upgraded. WAVE Rural Connect offered a good package, but they cannot provide phone the needed phone service. Randy Melton would like to keep them as secondary coverage (back-up). All Alderpersons expressed understanding and agreement with the information presented. A Resolution is to be drawn up and presented at the regular June meeting.
Randy Melton made a motion that we spend $151,856.06 for a total project cost, upgrades, and Police Department cameras. Also that $10,000.00 be added for contingency costs. The motion was seconded by David Mahon. Upon a roll call vote, all Alderpersons voted aye and the motion passed. A motion was then made by Charlie Meeker to enter into a 3-year contract with Ritter with WAVE as secondary provider. This was seconded by Argest Hyler. Upon a roll call vote, all Alderpersons voted aye and the motion was passed. Randy Melton then made a motion to adjourn, seconded by David Mahon. Upon a roll call vote, all Alderpersons voted aye and the meeting was adjourned.
